About our activities in Romania
We, Georgian group are here in Abrud since 5Th of November. and now we feel really lucky to choose our community. We are having here fun while doing activities also, and without them of course...
The second day of our arrival was great from the very beginning - the other Georgian volunteers came from Rosia Montana community and took us to their place. we spent two days there having fan and exchanging our experiences and expectations... it was typical Georgian hosting - warm, full of love and respect...
On the third day we had friendly meeting with our coordinator, Brandon, who meanwhile is PC volunteer facilitating in Apuseni Mountain Youth Center "Cert". He made us aware of plans, activities and options in the local community. So, the next day was good start. Since that we are having activities in General school and also in special one for disabled children.
As for me, Nino, I am giving art lessons in both kind of schools - particularly drawing, painting lessons. also, once a week we have gym lesson with kids in general school. While these activities the children are practicing in English and we - in Romanian.
But it is not all about our active life there.
The best part for me is our week-end activities. Yes, we are working even during week-end! Our coordinator Brandon is leading us to different festivals running in this Area and not only. We have activities there regarding presentation of our organization, community and country too. This is the closest contact with real Romania - altogether past and present moments of Romanian people, their History, language, music, dance, national costumes and... in general, their culture. That is obviously amazing one! we are taking awesome pictures of these events saving the best moments from those days...
Once a month we are invited to Arad, where our central office Millennium Center is located. Volunteers are provided with different kind of trainings and activities to be involved there too.
And of course, we would do almost nothing without support of our hosting and sending organizations. No matter the distance... we are strongly supported by our sending organization SIQA from Rustavi, our home city.
This is the short, very short description of our being and life as a volunteer in Romania on our second stage here after May-August.
